### View current selection.
The cardmember wants to see if they are opted in or out of sharing their credit card transaction data with the partner for marketing. Utilizing the Data Sharing for Marketing Purposes API, the partner can display the cardmember’s current selection and give the ability to change it.

### Update selection
The cardmember wants to change their selection from opting in to opting out of sharing their credit card transaction data for marketing. Utilizing the Data Sharing for Marketing Purposes API, the partner can change the cardmember’s selection to opt out of sharing their data.

Example use cases

* Requests and responses must be in JSON format.
* Transport Layer Security v1.2 or higher must be supported.
* OAuth 2.0 and Mutual Transport Layer Security must be supported.


Requirements

This API is applicable to Elan partners that have the enhanced data privacy agreement in place. The user interface must also include information about managing their data sharing for marketing purposes selection.

### Data sharing informational text
Your user interface must include informational text that informs your cardmember about how their data will be shared and how it can be managed.

#### Sample text
* “Elan Financial Services would like to share some of your transaction data with [insert name of partner financial institution].”
* “You may receive communications about a credit card ending in the last four digits of the card.”* “You can limit your transaction data at any time by selecting No.”
* “Your data may be shared 30 days after you’re notified of a change in privacy settings or after opening a new account. Please check your privacy setting regularly.”

### Acknowledgment
Your user interface must include an acknowledgment that allows the cardmember to opt in or out of sharing their data.

#### Sample text
* “No, don’t share my transaction data.”
* “Yes, share my transaction data.”

### Confirmation
Your user interface must include a confirmation that requires the cardmember to review their selection and confirms the action.

#### Sample review selection text
“Are you sure you want to make this change?“

#### Sample confirmation text
* “You have selected to share your data.”
* “You have selected to stop sharing your data.”


Restrictions

Allows cardmembers to manage their data sharing opt-in or opt-out preferences. 

 

Data Sharing for Marketing Purposes

The Data Sharing for Marketing Purposes API informs cardmembers about their current data sharing for marketing purposes selection (opted in or out) and gives cardmembers the option of changing their selection.
